Adam was given
instructions on the tree to eat from (Genesis 2:16-17) and his wife Eve, who
was equally and fully aware of these instructions (Genesis 3:2-3), disobeyed
and lured Adam to the sin of disobedience. Theirs was more devastating than
Abraham's, because they lost the glory of God and eviction from the beloved
Garden of Eden, their cherished home.
While waiting on
God we must know that the devil will/can always break in through our minds and
other willing avenues, for the married, the easiest and most accessible means
being their spouses, with the sole aim of making us do what God will not
approve of, so as to distant us from Him by the way of sin, and this will keep
us far from God's favour in our lives.
In the case of
Spouse, husbands are the head of the family and should guide the spirituality
of their wives tenaciously so that they can both be uninterruptedly faithful to
God otherwise, our enemy- the devil, will penetrate through the spiritually weak
one. Apart from spirituality, you should
watch her lifestyle too, because Eve wandered away far from Adam and met the
serpent- the devil and succumbed to his bidding, if she was at a close range, at
least Adam would have heard her voice and asked, "Dear, who are you talking
with"? Sometimes, we get blinded by love or the ideology of “Oh’ my wife
is my better half”, and then we lose guard on watching or taking charge of
certain areas of their lives. This journey of waiting on the LORD is the
hardest I can see in the journey of Christianity.
My point is that
you may be wondering why there seems to be delay to your prayers and why God is
silent on you? Whereas your lifestyle or that of your spouse is the reason God
is holding back, giving you an opportunity to return to him in repentance. Sometimes,
despite our seemly perfect and sinless Christian life of continuous obedience
to God in a consistent devotional life, unwavering faith and intentional flee
from all appearance of evil; answers to our prayers can unknowingly be delayed
by spiritual forces. Such forces and unique issues can be likened to
"Prince of Persia" (the special forces of evil- See Daniel 10:13). These are words that connote the presence of demonic
forces withholding in the spiritual realms our breakthrough and answers to our
prayers. Daniel prayed and called on God, unknown to him that forces were at
work, as revealed by angel Gabriel. (Daniel 10:13).
Now, this may be
your case, your prince of Persia could be unforgiveness, adultery, malice, anger,
hatred, hostility, wife-battery, husband-battery, divination (consulting mediums),
spiritual harlotry (visiting different religious houses), spiritual apathy
(lackadaisical attitude towards worship) etc. Living above this, calls for special
spiritual reinforcement and an intentional Christian lifestyle, both individual
and collectively as a household. We have Special Forces of demonic agents on special
assignments (Ephesians 6:12) to pull down families and individuals who are born
to do exploit for God. This is an undeniable reality, and if you choose to
deny, think again. Don't see yourself as every other church member who testifies
of how God delivered them from nightmares. NO! Yours could be an age long
spiritual attacks, needing a different course of action, to pray and live,
breaking walls of demonic, barriers, and obstacles in our lives and in the life
of our families. This comes with a concerted effort of intentional life of
righteousness and connectedness with Jesus Christ, with total obedience and
trust to the source of power (Jesus) above all forces of evil. Ephesians 6:10-13 “Finally, be strong in
the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you
can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle
is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you
may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
It is my prayer
that God, in His infinite Mercy, Power and Grace, will surely win our battles
and take all the glory. Amen.
