✨It's Boxing Day! The Day of Goodwill!!✨ What's In it For Them?

It's Boxing Day! The Day of Goodwill!

What's In it For Them?

This day known and named as 'Boxing Day' or 'Goodwill Day' as some Africans may call it, has a unique significance, that is rooted in the culture of Lending arms to the needy. This day indeed reminds me of the visit and gifting of the wise men from the East, who brought gifts to Baby Jesus and His parents, offering gold, frankincense and Myrrh.

They demonstrated that Love indeed is action required. It's a day that brings to our minds that sharing is caring. This practice is to demonstrate charity and generosity in this season of commemorating Jesus' birth and hereafter.

Jesus whom we celebrate, whom we hold as absolute and central in our motives and actions for this season, has given us a message for a time as this and hereafter. He has commanded us to love in deeds and in action, He says to us all:-

"And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13:34

As we receive and give gifts to our circle of friends and well wishers. Let's extend this goodwill to the poor and vulnerable, sick and challenged, to people who can't fend for themselves, to the beggars on the street, to our neighboring friends and passersby, to the single mothers, to the children around us.

James 1:27 Says; "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."

This is what God considers to be pure and genuine religion: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the ungodliness, perversions and evil of the world. It means that as Christians show the world of their beliefs and practices; this is indeed what's in it that God approves as pure religion, to care for the least amongst living with us.

"Keep on loving one another as Christian brothers and sisters. Remember to welcome strangers in your homes. There were some who did that and welcomed angels without knowing it. 3Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them." Hebrews 13:1-3

I wish that all through the power and manifestation of the Holy Spirit receive a heart of kindness and selflessness because it is the key to unlocking God's Blessings as we reach out beyond our comfort zone.

Wishing You God's Blessings in Jesus' name.
